Relief from Painful Dance Shoes

The time of year for summer dance classes and summer intensives can be fun and exciting, but it can also bring about painful blisters and irritations from old or worn out dance shoes.  Before you pack up your dance bag for your next class, be sure to make sure your shoes are in good condition.  Blisters are usually caused by friction or burns.  Therefore, old or ill-fitting shoes can cause you pain during class.  If your shoes cause a blister take these steps to ensure the wound does not become infected.

  • Keep the blister intact if it is not too painful, the skin provides a protective barrier to protect from infection.
  • Cover a small blister with an adhesive bandage.
  • Cover a large blister with porous, plastic coated gauze pad that absorbs moisture and allows the wound to breathe.
  • Call your doctor if you see signs of infection around a blister - pus, redness, increasing pain, or warm skin.
  • Apply a healing ointment, such as Wound-Be-Gone, to help your body heal. You can find Wound-Be-Gone at the product store at the Advanced Footcare Clinic Website.
  • If your feet become a continual problem call our office at 419-423-1888 to schedule and appointment.

The active ingredient in Wound-Be-Gone® traps, binds, and neutralizes oxygen free radicals. Oxygen free radicals are toxic substances known to cause inflammation and may slow wound healing. The formula, unique among wound care products, is a revolutionary method of treating acute and chronic wounds, as well as minor injuries. Wound-Be-Gone has been clinically proven to accelerate healing, decrease inflammation, and reduce pain. In addition to these beneficial effects, Wound-Be-Gone helps to prevent the formation of scars. By decreasing the tissue inflammation, providing a moist healing environment, and maximizing the body's ability to heal, the formation of scar tissue is being lessened dramatically.
